(1) The name of the organization is the International Palaeontological Association (IPA).
(2) The IPA, because of its interdisciplinary character, is affiliated with both the International Union of Geological Sciences (IUGS) and the International Union of Biological Sciences (IUBS).
(3) The present Constitution of IPA is laid down in these Statutes and By-Laws and is effective from the date of adoption according to procedures specified below.
(4) The Association is organized exclusively for charitable and educational purposes within the meaning of section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code of the United States of America.
